Specifications
This is a quick overview of some of the specifications we start with to make sure every Epoch Home is built to the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
- 1. Solid 2x wood bridging reduces opportunity for floor squeaks and adds to structural rigidity.
- 2. Floor joists are S-Dried (spruce, pine, fir) at 16" on center (2x10 for 26 or 28 wide.)
- 3. Exterior walls are 2x6 studs S-Dried (spruce, pine, fir)at 16" on center.
- 4. Full 8' ceiling height with options for 9' on the first floor of colonials.
- 5. Floor sheathing is Plum Creek 3/4" tongue & groove plywood, both glued and nailed to joists.
- 6. Sheetrock joints on exterior walls are reinforced with plywood backer for additional strength.
- 7. Electrical outlets are caulked to reduce air infiltration.
- 8. Nail plates protect electrical wiring.
- 9. Plywood seams are caulked for added air infiltration protection.
- 10. 200 amp service handles large electrical loads.
- 11. 1/2" plywood sheathing, glued and fastened with 7/16" x 1-3/4" chisel point resin coated fasteners.
- 12. 5/8" plywood sheathing. Staggered joints, fastened with 2" resin coated 16 gauge fasteners.
- 13. 7/12 pitch folding truss, with options for 5/12 and 9/12 pitches. Optional 5/12 to 12/12 folding rafters with options for usable attic storage and add-on dormers.
- 14. 12" R-38 fiberglass batt insulation with vapor barrier towards warm side.
- 15. Soffits over kitchen cabinet.
- 16. Yorktowne kitchen cabinets and vanities in your choice of hickory, maple, oak, or white thermafoil.
- 17. Moen stainless steel, double bowl kitchen sink, with Moen single lever faucet and spray.
- 18. Armstrong vinyl floor with no wax wear surface using Interflex installation system.
Because every home we build is fully custom, we offer a wide range of choices for specifications. Our Standard Specifications is a simply one place to start. Our Economy spec is another starting point, as is our Eco Collection specification that can bring most projects up to a Silver rating under the National Green Building Standard. Most of our customers mix and match specifications, product choices and design elements to find the right mix of features to match the goals and budget.
